The Canada Arab Congress on Middle East and North Africa Relations CACMR is following with great interest the recent developments in Syria, which constitute a critical juncture in the history of Syria and the region. As we carefully watch these critical events with hope, we emphasize the importance of national solidarity and joint action to establish a new era worthy of the aspirations of the Syrian people of all sects after long years of suffering.
While we commend the Syrians for reaching this significant milestone in their journey, which reflects their aspirations for enhanced freedom, justice, and a prosperous future, we call on all parties to open the doors of dialogue, demonstrate wisdom and tolerance, prioritize the supreme national interest, and reject the spirit of revenge. The road to stability begins with preserving the unity of Syria’s rich social fabric, one of its greatest strengths.
CACMR urges Canada and the rest of the international community to provide the necessary support to the Syrian people at this critical stage, whether through humanitarian assistance or economic support, to enable the country to overcome its multiple crises. We also encourage all stakeholders in Syria to quickly begin laying the groundwork for an inclusive, peaceful and sustainable political transition, including enacting new legislation, organizing fair general elections, ensuring the safe return of refugees and displaced persons to their homes, and bringing criminals to justice.
We believe that this moment represents an unprecedented opportunity for Syria and the entire region to overcome the divisions of the past and work together to rebuild their country based on justice, equality, and the rejection of extremism and division in all its forms, free from foreign interference.

يتابع الكونغرس الكندي العربي لعلاقات الشرق الأوسط وشمال أفريقيا بأهتمام بالغ التطورات الأخيرة في سوريا، التي تشكل منعطفًا فائق الأهمية في تاريخ سوريا والمنطقة. ونحن إذ نتابع هذه الأحداث بعين الأمل، نؤكد على أهمية التكاتف الوطني والعمل المشترك لتأسيس عهد جديد يليق بتطلعات الشعب السوري بكافة اطيافه بعد سنوات طويلة من المعاناة.
في الوقت الذي نشيد بمسعى السوريين لتتويج نضالهم الطويل بهذه الخطوة التي تعكس رغبتهم في التحرر من الظلم والاستبداد والتطلع نحو مستقبل أكثر عدلاً وازدهارًا، فإننا ندعو جميع الأطراف إلى فتح ابواب الحوار والتحلي بالحكمة والتسامح وتغليب المصلحة الوطنية العليا ونبذ روح الانتقام. فالطريق نحو الاستقرار يبدأ بالحفاظ على وحدة النسيج الاجتماعي الغني لسوريا، الذي يُعدُّ من أعظم مكامن قوتها.
كما نحث كندا وسائر المجتمع الدولي، على تقديم الدعم اللازم للشعب السوري في هذه المرحلة الدقيقة، سواء من خلال المساعدة الإنسانية أو الدعم الاقتصادي، لتمكين البلاد من تجاوز أزماتها المتعددة. كما نشجع كل الاطراف المؤثرة في سوريا على الشروع سريعًا في وضع الأسس اللازمة لتحقيق انتقال سياسي شامل سلمي ومستدام، بما يشمل سن تشريعات جديدة، تنظيم انتخابات عامة نزيهة، وضمان العودة الآمنة للاجئين والنازحين إلى ديارهم وتقديم المجرمين الى العدالة.
نؤمن بأن هذه اللحظة تمثل فرصة غير مسبوقة لسوريا والمنطقة كافة لتجاوز انقسامات الماضي والعمل معًا لإعادة إعمار بلدهم على أسس من العدل والمساواة ونبذ التطرف والانقسام بكل اشكاله، بعيدًا عن التدخلات الخارجية.
Le Congrès canado-arabe sur les relations au Moyen-Orient et en Afrique du Nord (CCRAM) suit avec un vif intérêt les récents développements en Syrie, qui constituent un tournant décisif dans l’histoire du pays et de la région. Tout en observant attentivement et avec espoir ces événements critiques, nous soulignons l’importance de la solidarité nationale et d’une action conjointe pour instaurer une ère nouvelle, à la hauteur des aspirations du peuple syrien de toutes confessions, après de longues années de souffrance.
Tout en félicitant les Syriens d’avoir franchi cette étape importante, qui témoigne de leurs aspirations à une plus grande liberté, à la justice et à un avenir prospère, nous appelons toutes les parties à ouvrir le dialogue, à faire preuve de sagesse et de tolérance, à privilégier l’intérêt national suprême et à rejeter tout esprit de vengeance. La voie de la stabilité commence par la préservation de l’unité du riche tissu social syrien, l’une de ses plus grandes forces.
Le CCRAM exhorte le Canada et le reste de la communauté internationale à apporter le soutien nécessaire au peuple syrien en cette période critique, que ce soit par une aide humanitaire ou un soutien économique, afin de permettre au pays de surmonter ses multiples crises. Nous encourageons également toutes les parties prenantes en Syrie à œuvrer sans délai à la mise en place d’une transition politique inclusive, pacifique et durable, notamment en adoptant de nouvelles lois, en organisant des élections générales équitables, en garantissant le retour en toute sécurité des réfugiés et des personnes déplacées dans leurs foyers et en traduisant les criminels en justice.
Nous sommes convaincus que ce moment représente une occasion unique pour la Syrie et l’ensemble de la région de surmonter les divisions du passé et de travailler ensemble à la reconstruction du pays, en s’appuyant sur la justice, l’égalité et le rejet de l’extrémisme et de la division sous toutes leurs formes, et en toute indépendance vis-à-vis de toute ingérence étrangère.
