With hearts filled with profound sorrow and grief, the Canada-Arab Congress on Middle East and North Africa Relations CACMR extends its condolences to the Catholic Church and Christian communities in Canada and across the globe on the passing of His Holiness Pope Francis, who departed to the mercy of God on the morning of Monday, April 21, 2025, at the age of 88, following a period of illness.
Pope Francis was a global symbol of peace and coexistence, a powerful advocate for justice and compassion, as demonstrated by his courageous stances on humanitarian issues. We recall with great admiration his historic visits to the Middle East, including the United Arab Emirates in 2019 and Iraq in 2021, where he tirelessly worked to foster interfaith dialogue and support communities affected by conflict. We also commend his significant role in advocating for the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people and his unwavering support for the establishment of an independent Palestinian state.
We deeply appreciate his steadfast commitment to defending the marginalized, refugees, and the poor, as well as his continuous calls to end violence and establish peace in conflict zones, including Gaza and Lebanon. Pope Francis was a voice of peace, love, and compassion, a friend to all peace-loving peoples, and a staunch supporter of respecting cultural and religious diversity worldwide.
CACMR also salutes the remarkable legacy of Pope Francis in promoting the values of tolerance and dialogue, and we reaffirm our dedication to continuing this approach by building bridges of understanding between cultures and religions in the Middle East, North Africa, and Canada.
Once again, we offer our heartfelt condolences to all followers and admirers of His Holiness, hoping that their hearts find solace in this time of deep loss, and that his message of unity and love continues to inspire generations to come.

ويشيد بجهوده في ترسيخ قيم السلام والعدالة والدفاع عن القضايا الانسانية المحقة
بقلوب يملؤها الحزن والأسى، يتقدم الكونغرس الكندي العربي لعلاقات الشرق الأوسط وشمال إفريقيا بأحر التعازي إلى الكنيسة الكاثوليكية، وإلى المجتمعات المسيحية في كندا والعالم، في وفاة قداسة البابا فرانسيس، الذي انتقل إلى رحمة الله في صباح الإثنين، 21 أبريل 2025، عن عمر يناهز 88 عامًا، بعد معاناة مع المرض.
لقد كان البابا فرانسيس رمزًا عالميًا للسلام والتعايش، وصوتًا قويًا للعدالة والرحمة، كما تجلى ذلك في مواقفه الشجاعة تجاه القضايا الإنسانية. حيث نستذكر بإعجاب زياراته التاريخية إلى الشرق الأوسط، بما في ذلك دولة الإمارات العربية المتحدة عام 2019، والعراق عام 2021، حيث سعى لتعزيز الحوار بين الأديان ودعم المجتمعات المتضررة من النزاعات. كما نثمن دوره الكبير في دعم الحقوق المشروعة للشعب الفلسطيني وتأييده لإقامة دولته المستقلة.
نقدر عاليًا التزامه الدائم بالدفاع عن المهمشين، واللاجئين، والفقراء، ودعوته المستمرة لوقف العنف وإحلال السلام في مناطق الصراع، بما في ذلك غزة ولبنان. لقد كان البابا فرانسيس صوتًا للسلام والمحبة والرحمة وصديقا لكل الشعوب المحبة للسلام وداعمًا قويًا لاحترام التنوع الثقافي والديني حول العالم.

C’est avec une profonde tristesse que le Congrès Canada-Arabe des relations avec le Moyen-Orient et l’Afrique du Nord (CCAMR) présente ses condoléances à l’Église catholique et aux communautés chrétiennes du Canada et du monde entier suite au décès de Sa Sainteté le pape François, survenu le lundi 21 avril 2025 au matin, à l’âge de 88 ans, après une période de maladie.
Le pape François était un symbole mondial de paix et de coexistence, un ardent défenseur de la justice et de la compassion, comme en témoignent ses prises de position courageuses sur les questions humanitaires. Nous nous souvenons avec une grande admiration de ses visites historiques au Moyen-Orient, notamment aux Émirats arabes unis en 2019 et en Irak en 2021, où il a œuvré sans relâche pour promouvoir le dialogue interreligieux et soutenir les communautés touchées par les conflits. Nous saluons également son rôle déterminant dans la défense des droits légitimes du peuple palestinien et son soutien indéfectible à la création d’un État palestinien indépendant.
Nous apprécions profondément son engagement indéfectible envers la défense des personnes marginalisées, des réfugiés et des pauvres, ainsi que ses appels constants à mettre fin à la violence et à instaurer la paix dans les zones de conflit, notamment à Gaza et au Liban. Le pape François était une voix de paix, d’amour et de compassion, un ami de tous les peuples épris de paix et un fervent défenseur du respect de la diversité culturelle et religieuse dans le monde entier.
Le CACMR salue également l’héritage remarquable du pape François dans la promotion des valeurs de tolérance et de dialogue, et nous réaffirmons notre engagement à poursuivre cette voie en bâtissant des ponts de compréhension entre les cultures et les religions au Moyen-Orient, en Afrique du Nord et au Canada.
Une fois encore, nous présentons nos plus sincères condoléances à tous les fidèles et admirateurs de Sa Sainteté, espérant qu’ils trouveront du réconfort en ces moments de profonde tristesse et que son message d’unité et d’amour continuera d’inspirer les générations futures.
