CACMR Participates in the Embassy of Qatar’s Ottawa Fall Get-Together

Ottawa–Gatineau | September 19, 2026

The Canada Arab Congress for Middle East and North Africa Relations (CACMR) was honoured to participate in the Ottawa Fall Get-Together, hosted by the Embassy of the State of Qatar in Ottawa and H.E. Tariq Ali Faraj Al-Ansari, Ambassador of the State of Qatar to Canada.

CACMR was represented by its Chair and President, Mr. Abdullatif Al Shaikh, who joined members of the diplomatic community, community leaders, and invited guests for the special gathering.

The event provided a warm and informal setting to celebrate friendship, cultural exchange, and Qatar’s 2026 Year of Culture with Canada, while creating an opportunity for meaningful conversations and connections among members of Canada’s diplomatic and wider community.

For Mr. Al Shaikh, the gathering was also a valued opportunity to reconnect with several distinguished members of the Arab diplomatic community in Canada, including H.E. Souriya Otmani, Ambassador of the Kingdom of Morocco and Dean of the Diplomatic Corps; H.E. Abdulrahman Ali Almur Ali Alneyadi, Ambassador of the United Arab Emirates; H.E. Sabah Nizar Rashid Al Rafie, Ambassador of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan; H.E. Lassaad Boutara, Ambassador of the Republic of Tunisia; and Mr. Nouri F. M. Elkasah, Chargé d’affaires, a.i. and Head of Mission of Libya in Canada.

A particular highlight of the gathering was the opportunity for Mr. Al Shaikh to meet and personally welcome the new Ambassador of the Arab Republic of Egypt to Canada, H.E. Khaled Mahmoud Abdelmoniem Azmi. CACMR looks forward to engaging with Ambassador Azmi and the Embassy of Egypt as he begins his diplomatic assignment in Canada.

CACMR extends its sincere appreciation to H.E. Ambassador Tariq Ali Faraj Al-Ansari and the Embassy of the State of Qatar in Ottawa for the kind invitation and warm hospitality, as well as for bringing together members of the diplomatic and broader community in a spirit of friendship, dialogue, and cultural exchange.

CACMR’s participation reflects the organization’s continued commitment to strengthening Canada’s relationships with the Middle East and North Africa through diplomatic engagement, cultural exchange, community connections, and meaningful people-to-people relations.

As CACMR continues to expand its engagement with diplomatic missions and partners across Canada and the MENA region, the organization looks forward to building on these important relationships and supporting initiatives that advance mutual understanding, dialogue, and stronger Canada–MENA relations.
