يبدي الكونغرس الكندي العربي لعلاقات الشرق الأوسط وشمال أفريقيا (CACMR) قلقه العميق إزاء استمرار الانتهاكات الجسيمة لحقوق الإنسان والحريات الأساسية في إيران، بما في ذلك اعداد الضحايا الكبيرة في صفوف المدنيين نتيجة استخدام القوة المفرطة ضد المتظاهرين السلميين والاعتقالات والاعدامات التعسفية للناشطين والصحفيين. ويؤكد الكونغرس أن غياب المساءلة القضائية المستقلة يقوض أسس الكرامة الإنسانية وحق المواطنين في التعبير السلمي عن تطلعاتهم، ويشكل خرقاً للعهود الدولية وميثاق الأمم المتحدة.
كما يحذر الكونغرس الكندي العربي من أن استمرار النهج القمعي واستنزاف الموارد الوطنية لتمويل الجماعات المسلحة التي تهدد الأمن الإقليمي، قد يؤدي إلى عواقب خطيرة على الاستقرار في الشرق الأوسط ويؤثر سلباً على الاقتصاد العالمي وسلامة الملاحة الدولية في منطقة الخليج. ويشدد الكونغرس في هذا السياق على ضرورة تعزيز التعاون الكامل مع الوكالة الدولية للطاقة الذرية والمجتمع الدولي لضمان الطابع السلمي للبرنامج النووي، ودرء مخاطر سباق التسلح، بما يعزز الأمن والسلم الدوليين.

Le Congrès canado-arabe pour les relations avec le Moyen-Orient et l’Afrique du Nord (CCARAM) exprime sa profonde préoccupation face aux graves violations persistantes des droits de la personne et des libertés fondamentales en Iran, notamment le nombre élevé de victimes civiles résultant du recours excessif à la force par le gouvernement contre des manifestants pacifiques, ainsi que les arrestations et exécutions arbitraires de militants et de journalistes. Le CCARM souligne que l’absence de responsabilité judiciaire indépendante porte atteinte aux fondements de la dignité humaine et au droit des citoyens d’exprimer pacifiquement leurs aspirations, constituant ainsi une violation des conventions internationales et de la Charte des Nations Unies.
Le CCARM avertit en outre que la poursuite de cette approche répressive, conjuguée à l’épuisement des ressources nationales au profit du financement de groupes armés qui menacent la sécurité régionale, pourrait avoir de graves conséquences sur la stabilité du Moyen-Orient et nuire à l’économie mondiale et à la sécurité de la navigation internationale dans le Golfe. Dans ce contexte, le CACMR souligne la nécessité d’une pleine coopération avec l’Agence internationale de l’énergie atomique et l’ensemble de la communauté internationale afin de garantir le caractère pacifique du programme nucléaire iranien et de prévenir les risques d’une course aux armements, contribuant ainsi au renforcement de la paix et de la sécurité internationales.
Dans le cadre de cette position internationale, le CACMR salue le rôle déterminant et de premier plan joué par le Canada en matière de défense des droits de la personne, notamment la désignation des Gardiens de la révolution iraniens comme entité terroriste, ainsi que les efforts canadiens et internationaux visant à renforcer la responsabilisation et à étendre les sanctions contre les entités responsables de la répression des manifestations ou des menaces à la stabilité régionale.
