The Canada Arab Congress on MENA Relations (CACMR) was honored to meet with Her Excellency Souriya Otmani, Ambassador of the Kingdom of Morocco to Canada and Dean of the Diplomatic Corps. The meeting was an important opportunity to engage in meaningful dialogue on strengthening bilateral and multilateral cooperation between Canada and the Arab world.
Discussions focused on deepening economic and trade relations, advancing opportunities for youth and women, fostering academic and cultural exchange and exploring new avenues for partnership in innovation and sustainable development. Her Excellency shared her valuable perspectives on Morocco’s leadership role in Africa and the Arab region and emphasized the importance of closer collaboration between diplomatic, governmental and business communities in Canada.
The meeting also reflected on the evolving dynamics of Canada–MENA relations, highlighting Morocco’s unique position as a bridge between North Africa, the Arab world and Europe. As Dean of the Diplomatic Corps, Ambassador Otmani further underscored the importance of building stronger ties between Canada and the wider diplomatic community, reinforcing dialogue, understanding and cooperation at all levels.
CACMR extends its sincere appreciation to Her Excellency Souriya Otmani for her time, insights and leadership. This meeting represents another step forward in CACMR’s mission to foster constructive partnerships and to strengthen Canada–Arab relations. تشرف الكونجرس الكندي العربي لعلاقات الشرق الأوسط وشمال إفريقيا بعقد لقاء مع سعادة السفيرة سوريا عثماني، سفيرة المملكة المغربية لدى كندا وعميدة السلك الدبلوماسي. وقد شكّل هذا اللقاء فرصة مهمة لإجراء حوار معمّق حول سبل تعزيز التعاون الثنائي ومتعدد الأطراف بين كندا والعالم العربي.
تركّزت المناقشات على تعميق العلاقات الاقتصادية والتجارية، وتوسيع الفرص أمام الشباب والنساء، وتعزيز التبادل الأكاديمي والثقافي، إلى جانب استكشاف مسارات جديدة للشراكة في مجالات الابتكار والتنمية المستدامة. كما قدّمت سعادتها رؤى قيّمة حول الدور الريادي للمغرب في إفريقيا والعالم العربي، وأكدت على أهمية تعزيز التعاون بين الأوساط الدبلوماسية والحكومية والاقتصادية في كندا.
كما تناول اللقاء التطورات المتصلة بالعلاقات الكندية – العربية، مسلطًا الضوء على المكانة المتميزة للمغرب كبوابة بين شمال إفريقيا والعالم العربي وأوروبا. وبصفتها عميدة السلك الدبلوماسي، شددت السفيرة عثماني على أهمية بناء روابط أوثق بين كندا والمجتمع الدبلوماسي الأوسع، بما يعزز الحوار والتفاهم والتعاون على مختلف المستويات.
ويتقدّم الكونغرس الكندي العربي بخالص شكره وتقديره لسعادة السفيرة سوريا عثماني على وقتها الثمين ورؤيتها القيادية. ويُعتبر هذا اللقاء خطوة إضافية في مسيرة الكونغرس نحو بناء شراكات بنّاءة وتعزيز العلاقات الكندية – العربية. ونتطلّع إلى البناء على هذا التبادل المثمر ومواصلة التعاون في مبادرات تعود بالفائدة المستدامة على كندا والعالم العربي
Le Congrès canado-arabe sur les relations MENA (CACMR) a eu l’honneur de rencontrer Son Excellence Souriya Otmani, Ambassadrice du Royaume du Maroc au Canada et Doyenne du Corps diplomatique. Cette rencontre a constitué une occasion importante d’engager un dialogue constructif sur le renforcement de la coopération bilatérale et multilatérale entre le Canada et le monde arabe.
Les discussions ont porté sur l’approfondissement des relations économiques et commerciales, l’amélioration des perspectives offertes aux jeunes et aux femmes, la promotion des échanges universitaires et culturels et l’exploration de nouvelles pistes de partenariat en matière d’innovation et de développement durable. Son Excellence a partagé son point de vue pertinent sur le rôle de chef de file du Maroc en Afrique et dans le monde arabe et a souligné l’importance d’une collaboration plus étroite entre les milieux diplomatiques, gouvernementaux et d’affaires canadiens.
La rencontre a également permis d’aborder la dynamique changeante des relations Canada-MENA, mettant en lumière la position unique du Maroc comme pont entre l’Afrique du Nord, le monde arabe et l’Europe. En sa qualité de Doyenne du Corps diplomatique, l’Ambassadrice Otmani a insisté sur l’importance de tisser des liens plus étroits entre le Canada et l’ensemble de la communauté diplomatique, en renforçant le dialogue, la compréhension et la coopération à tous les niveaux.
Le CACMR exprime sa sincère gratitude à Son Excellence Souriya Otmani pour son temps, ses précieux conseils et son leadership.
